1st-5th Ukulele: Monday 3:30-4:15pm
3rd-8th Guitar: Wednesday 6:30-7:15pm
9th-Adult Guitar: Tuesday 7:00-8:00pm
Tuition for 1ST-5TH & 3RD-8TH: $125
Tuition for 9TH-ADULT: $150

Materials: Guitar or Ukulele
Join us for a fun and engaging introduction to the guitar, and you’ll be playing your favorite songs in no time! Classes will explore basic note reading, standard chords used in hundreds of classic songs, and groovy melodies that get your fingers moving.
Tuition amount is the total for the first month of instruction; once registration is complete, you will receive a prompt to log-in to the student/parent portal where you must enter payment information for ongoing recurring payments moving forward. Your preferred form of payment will be automatically charged on the first day of each successive month. The monthly tuition fee is a flat rate and is not dependent on the number of classes held in any particular month, but evenly distributed monthly payments towards the annual fee.
Withdrawal Policy
We are unable to provide refunds or make-up credits for classes missed by students.
In order to withdraw from a class, you must provide written notice at least 30 days prior to your date of withdrawal to OPSM director Joann Cho: info@oakparkmusic.com. Verbal communication with teachers/staff or other forms of notification to the teacher does not constitute proper notice. The effective date of the 30-day notice is the date of your written notice, and you will be charged for the 30 days following the date of written notice.

GUITAR: K-2nd
Over the course of 8 weeks we’ll learn some easy chords for small hands, and a series of fun classic guitar pieces that develop finger mobility, a solid sense of rhythm, and basic knowledge of the guitar fretboard. Students will develop internalization and memorization skills in the process, and will end the class with a solid repertoire they’ll enjoy playing.
Guitar: K-2nd Benchmarks
Students who complete this class are expected to display a clear understanding of the following:
Instrument Basics
How to hold the guitar properly and where to place both arms and hands on the instrument
The names of the six strings on the guitar and the difference in pitch from low to high.
Technique
Proper pick holding technique, and how to pluck one string at a time as well as strum multiple strings together.
The finger numbers of the fretting hand, and a rudimentary ability to use different fingers for different notes.
Pre-Reading:
The notes in a C-major 5-note scale: ability to play in the proper order forwards and backwards and memorize the name of each note.

The musical alphabet
Repertoire
Be able to play four beginner guitar songs from memory
Be able to play the following chords: Emin, A7, 1-finger version of C and G.
GUITAR: 3rd-5th

This class will integrate concepts from the 3rd-5th class along with more advanced chords, basic music note reading, and an introduction to scales and music theory.

GUITAR 9th-Adult
These classes will move at a faster pace, developing the techniques, knowledge, and repertoire necessary to build a strong foundation for further guitar study. We’ll learn the most commonly used guitar chords, and apply them to classic songs to develop facility on the instrument and learn to play in rhythm together while we do it. We’ll also explore an introduction to scales, theory, and note reading, and students will leave class with a solid understanding of how the instrument works.
